Transformation- Before & After – Part 1

The month of November 2024 is etched in my body, heart, soul and mind forever.

Bruised, battered, bloodied, skin split and open in different places, wounds, bruises on the body. That’s how I remember when I came to consciousness.

Where was I? Blinding white lights, a man and a woman standing over the bed and looking at me. And my first question, ‘ Is anything broken?’ No, came the answer.

The next thing I remember, an injection getting into my right lower jaw and another one into left side of the scalp, local anaesthesia the nurse told me. They were going to ‘stitch me together’ in those areas.

I remember in a blur, Srini coming in, a blurry image of him talking to the Doctors.

And one particular Doctor asking something to me, and I responded in Telugu. An instant understanding came with his puzzled look that he didn’t know Telugu, and I switched immediately to Hindi and he became comfortable.

Hindsight, I laugh at myself , even with what happened to me, I was more concerned about communicating with him FOR HIM, to make him comfortable! Swapna you have outdone yourself!

I remember them saying, two days in the hospital under observation. It could be a concussion, it could be a brain injury, a CT scan was done, and they have to wait for results.

An instant decision was made by me, No way! I am not going to lie in a hospital 150 kms away from Hyderabad, with my kids at home and the dogs in the colony I take care and feed every day to languish. If anything happens, let it happen at home, my home, my city.

Nothing is broken, they have stitched me, kept lots of bandages on my face, I am totally numb right now because of lots of painkillers, I am getting out and that’s what I said clearly.

So what shows up in my medical record is this, ‘Patient leaving against medical observation’ Simple.

So here I am sitting in the passenger seat in the front with Srini in his Innova car, a good 150 kms away from Hyderabad which will take almost 2+ hours to reach.

And did I mention?

Nov 10th, today, marks exactly a month since I had that almost fatal bloodied accident and crash on my bicycle 130 kms away from Hyderabad.

Should I post a status on an insta/ whatever latest app you showcase nowadays, with sad acoustic music with a not so subtle message, ‘look at me’ like most do and then ‘claim’ they are really not much on Social media btw??

On my dead body, like Hell NOT!

To be continued

  1. It is great to see your indomitable spirit even after a serious accident.

    Hope you recover fast.

Travelling on roads, particularly highways has become too risky- especially early.mornings.is it possible.to find an indoor place like a stadium or a safer part of the city to cycle?

Yaar, jaan hai jahan hai !
